Training in Narrative Approach in Collaboration with Narrative Practices, Adelaide

Ummeed has been offering a year long training in the Narrative Approach in collaboration with Narrative Practices, Adelaide.

The focus of the training is to provide a thorough grounding in the ideas and practices of narrative approaches to working with individuals, families, groups and communities . Our teaching aims to reflect an approach which is interactive, collaborative, encouraging, rigorous, enjoyable and practice based.

THE COURSE PROGRAM is based around four key components:
1. A thorough exploration of the narrative metaphor and it’s application in practice including the background ideas and guiding principles of narrative therapy.
2. Skills development of the micro- maps of narrative practice as described by Michael White and related to work in a variety of contexts and settings.
3. Practice based collaborative learning including reviewing stories of therapeutic conversations, transcripts, therapeutic letters and interviews.
4. A supportive teaching environment enhanced by regular meetings with a focus on skills development in between teaching blocks

Our endeavour is to facilitate a learning context that is encouraging, rigorous and relevant to a range of diverse contexts. As well as working towards competencies in narrative practice we hope to foster supportive connections between practitioners.

One of the unique features of this program is constant mentoring and skill development offered in the form of supervision groups that meet weekly through the entire year.
